Learn to Sail
Thinking about getting into Sailing this Sailing Season?
It's cheaper and easier than you think!
Ages 9+ and of all abilities, anybody can do it.
Clarks Beach Yacht Club offers a number of learn to sail courses. Courses are run over the summer months and utilize the Yachting New Zealand developed program which aims to teach students to sail a dinghy with skill and confidence.
Our coach is trained and assessed to meet the Yachting New Zealand Learn to Sail Coach (Dinghy) assisted by our knowledgeable crew of volunteer members.
We have available for students the use of Club owned Plastic Optimist, Sunburst yachts and Lifejackets. These are available to use during the duration of the course. If sailors wish to progress further we encourage them to purchase their own boat and equipment. The correct boat for each sailor to buy will be unique and should happen at the right time for them as it is a step up in commitment and requires plenty of research
